Surface Preparation
The importance of proper surface preparation in achieving the required finishing cannot be overstated, particularly when applying anti-corrosion materials such as Heat Shrink Sleeves, Liquid Epoxy, or Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE). Grit blasting plays a critical role in this process. Although it is a tedious operation, it is essential for preparing a clean surface and achieving the correct surface profile in accordance with coating specifications, typically Sa 2.5 or higher.
Coretech understands the concern of many Offshore Contractors on the impact of cycle time when operating such system and thus have introduced our High Speed Automatic Closed Circuit Blasting system, capable of a cycle time within 2 minutes per joint on a typical 18” joint.
Heat Treatment – Induction Heating
Induction Heating System is the most efficient and safe way to preheat or post heat bare or coated pipe surface as compared to other methods. This system enables fast and even heating without damaging the Client’s pipe anti-corrosion/parent coating at the same time shortens the duration of Field Joint Coating’s scope.
The system consists of Clamp type frames for easy mounting and dismounting; works with an Induction Heating Control Set ranging from 80kW to 200kW, depending on the pipe sizes. The system is specially designed for offshore use, whereby the whole structure is made of robust material that can withstand the tough and rough offshore environment.
Infill Coating
Coretech is a specialist for the application of High-Density Polyurethane Foam (HDPUF) for pipeline field joint in-fill. The product is made up of two liquid chemical systems — Polyol and Isocyanate — with a wide range of formulations that can cater to different applications and requirements (density, Open Cell System, Closed Cell System) of field joint coating.
